Kazakhstan is currently in a critical period of digital transformation in the field of education. President Tokayev has signed a decree introducing artificial intelligence into secondary education, and the government is advancing a comprehensive action plan for the full integration of AI into the secondary education system from 2026 to 2029. At the same time, campus security and personnel access management are also highly valued. More and more schools are seeking smarter and more accurate attendance and access management solutions to improve campus management efficiency and security levels. In response to this demand, HFSecurity has launched an integrated attendance gate access control solution, which deeply integrates multimodal biometric attendance terminals with channel gates, and cooperates with the HFIMS management platform to help schools achieve "attendance upon passage, regional grading control, and full data connectivity". Kazakhstan schools face multiple challenges in attendance and access management. Firstly, traditional manual roll call takes up a lot of classroom time, which is particularly difficult in large class teaching; IC card or paper check-in may involve proxy signing and brushing, making it difficult to ensure the authenticity of attendance data. Secondly, although most schools are equipped with access control gates, many still remain at the level of simple card swiping and cannot be linked with the attendance system, resulting in a disconnect between student entry and exit records and attendance statistics. In addition, parents are unable to obtain real-time information on their children's arrival and departure from school, resulting in a communication gap between home and school. The school urgently needs an integrated access control system that can accurately identify identities, automatically record attendance, and support real-time data synchronization.
The core of the HFSecurity solution is to integrate attendance terminals with channel gates. At the main entrance of the school, the attendance terminal is integrated on top of the gate. When students pass through, they complete identity verification, and the gate automatically opens for release. The system synchronously records the attendance time - one action completes the access authorization and attendance registration, completely eliminating the management blind zone of "not clocking in after passing the gate". The gate itself has a physical anti tailgating function, allowing only one person to pass through each time, effectively preventing cardless personnel from following closely behind and entering the campus.
In areas such as school side doors, dormitory buildings, and libraries, attendance terminals are installed on independent columns or brackets, which can achieve multi-point attendance coverage without the need for large-scale civil engineering renovation. In this project, the client adopted a gate integration solution at the school entrance based on actual site conditions, and used column installation in other areas to ensure efficient control of the main entrance and flexible deployment of key nodes on campus.
This time, based on their own management needs, the customer mainly used two verification methods: NFC card swiping and facial recognition. Students can use campus IC cards or NFC mobile phones to lightly swipe through the device's sensing area, or achieve cardless and fast passage through facial recognition. Lower grade students mainly use NFC card swiping, which is convenient for daily use; Senior students can prioritize facial recognition to improve traffic efficiency; Faculty members can flexibly choose any method. The parallel implementation of two recognition methods not only meets the usage habits of students of different age groups, but also provides flexible management tools for the school. The device is equipped with a high-definition touch screen and voice prompts, with real-time feedback on check-in results and automatic alarm for abnormal situations. In response to the cold winter climate in Kazakhstan, the equipment has the ability to operate in a wide temperature range, ensuring stable operation throughout the year.
All attendance records are uploaded in real-time to the HFIMS management platform independently developed by HFSecurity. The platform is equipped with an intelligent scheduling and course schedule engine, which automatically compares students' travel records with course schedules and generates statistical reports on tardiness, early departure, absenteeism, and other issues. The homeroom teacher can view the class attendance status in real time through the computer or mobile phone, and parents can also understand their children's arrival and departure status in real time through the system, achieving seamless integration of home and school information. In terms of regional permission management, administrators can set up independent authorization lists for different locations in the background - students are only allowed to enter the main entrance and teaching building gate, and cannot enter the faculty office area or laboratory; Visitor QR codes or temporary cards are limited to administrative areas and expire on a timed basis. The platform also supports blacklist management. Once violators are listed, any attempt to pass will be rejected and an alarm will be triggered.
The customer's choice of NFC and facial recognition dual mode instead of a single recognition method has clear considerations for integrated management. The original campus IC card system of the school has been in operation for many years. If it is fully replaced with facial recognition, it will not only involve a large number of card invalidation and system reconstruction, but also data migration costs and adaptation costs for teachers and students. By adopting a dual-mode strategy of NFC and parallel, the school is able to retain card usage habits, smoothly transition, and introduce the convenience of facial recognition. Both types of data are unified into the HFIMS platform. The same backend manages two sets of identification channels simultaneously, without interfering with each other, and data is consolidated uniformly. This fusion architecture not only protects existing investments, but also reserves space for future upgrades.
