Brazil's new payment option, HFSecurity palm vein device allows consumers to "lift their hand" and pay

2026 06/10

In Brazil, mobile payments and cardless transactions are rapidly becoming popular, but traditional scanning and facial recognition payments still face limitations such as phone dependence, lighting effects, and hygiene concerns. A local payment solution provider has successfully developed a palm vein payment system for convenience stores, self-service restaurants, and gym membership scenarios using the open SDK and API of HFSecurity palm vein recognition devices. The system has been launched for trial operation. This is one of the important palm vein payment cases for HFSecurity in the Latin American market.
Brazil's new payment option, HFSecurity palm vein device allows consumers to "lift their hand" and pay
The Brazilian client specializes in integrating digital payment terminals for offline scenarios, with a customer base including chain convenience stores, campus canteens, and fitness clubs. Feedback during operation: Consumers hope for faster and more secure payments, and do not want to rely on mobile phones or bank cards; Merchants hope to prevent member identity fraud, reduce disputes over fraudulent use, and integrate payment data with their own member management system.
Most facial recognition payment devices on the market are closed and cannot be embedded in customers' own apps or management backends, and their recognition rates have decreased due to the impact of strong sunlight and masks in Brazil. After evaluation, the customer ultimately chose HFSecurity palm vein payment device. Because palm vein recognition has advantages such as non-contact, ultra-low misidentification rate, and is not affected by external light and facial occlusion. More importantly, we provide free SDKs and complete APIs to support customers in independent development and deep integration.

With remote support from the HFSecurity technical team, the Brazilian client completed the following development work:
Payment terminal adaptation: Integrate HFSecurity palm vein recognition module into its existing self-service cash registers and handheld POS devices, maintaining the customer's brand style in appearance and interactive interface.
Member payment integration: By calling the API, the consumer's palm vein features can be linked to the member's account. When making payment, identity confirmation, point accumulation, and balance deduction can be completed by simply lifting the hand, without the need for additional operations.
Backend management system: Customers build their own management backend to centrally manage palm vein payment devices in various stores, monitor transaction records and abnormal alarms in real time, and support remote configuration.
Security Enhancement: Customers have added transaction secondary verification and local data encryption based on the API, meeting Brazilian financial level compliance requirements.
The customer technical manager stated, 'HFSecurity's free SDK documentation is clear, the interface is stable, and we are able to integrate quickly.'. The speed and accuracy of palm vein recognition far exceed our expectations, and it performs excellently even in strong outdoor light
At present, the program has been put into use in multiple convenience stores and chain gyms in S ã o Paulo:
Convenience Store: After customers scan the products at the self-service checkout, they lift their hands to complete palm vein recognition, and the system automatically deducts the payment from the bound member account, making the entire process fast and smooth. No need to show your phone or enter a password. The store clerk gave feedback that elderly customers especially like this method, "no need to remember passwords, and no need to worry about their phones running out of battery".
Gym: When members enter, they raise their hands for recognition, and the gate automatically releases and completes check-in; When purchasing private teaching courses or protein powder, simply raise your hand again to pay from the member's balance, without the need to swipe your card at the front desk.

Through independent development, the Brazilian client has gained core control over the payment system. They can adjust transaction rules and add new features (such as limited time discounts and family account sharing) at any time without waiting for device manufacturers to update. In the future, they plan to expand palm vein payment to more scenarios, including campus canteens, employee canteens, shared office spaces, and more.
HFSecurity provides not only hardware, but also an open biometric platform. We provide free SDK and API, allowing customers to freely customize software functions, data flow, and user interaction according to their own business needs, truly achieving the goal of 'product for me'.
Not affected by the environment: Brazil has strong sunlight all year round, and facial recognition is prone to overexposure; Palm vein recognition utilizes infrared imaging, which is stable under both strong and low light conditions.
No need to remove cover: Consumers wearing masks, sunglasses, hats, or having wet or dirty fingers will not affect recognition.
Live anti-counterfeiting: Venous distribution is an internal physiological feature that is extremely difficult to replicate, and payment security is superior to QR codes and magnetic stripe cards.
Hygiene friendly: No need to touch the surface of the equipment, in line with consumers' concern for hygiene.
HFSecurity is committed to providing open and easily integrated biometric solutions for global partners. From free SDKs and APIs to complete development documentation, from hardware modules to reference designs, we support customers in any depth of secondary development. Whether it's payment, attendance, access control, or identity authentication, customers can create their own products based on HFSecurity's technology foundation.
The successful case of this Brazilian client validates the effectiveness of the "HFSecurity open platform+local self-development" model. In the future, HFSecurity will continue to deeply cultivate the Latin American market, cooperate with more system integrators and payment service providers, promote the popularization of mobile payment in retail, catering, transportation and other scenarios, and make "brush hand payment" a daily routine for Brazilian consumers.
